The Great Indoors

There’s a word in Icelandic—gluggaveour—that captures a certain Hudson Valley winter aesthetic, when the stark, moody weather is beautiful to look at, but best enjoyed from indoors, ideally near a roaring fire with a cup of tea in hand. It was exactly this juxtaposition of cozy and captivating that architect Fredrick Tang hoped to capture when remodeling a 4,500 square foot farmhouse on 16 acres in Pine Plains.
